Michel Arrion remplaces Dr. Jean Marc Anga as Executive Director of ICCO
Mr. Michel Arrion (pictured) has been appointed Executive Director of the International Cocoa Organization headquartered in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, in replacement of Dr. Jean Marc Anga.
He was appointed late September 2018, during the regular session of the International cocoa Council and officially took office last October, 1 2018.
A communiqué on the organization’s website read:
“Mr. Arrion was appointed by consensus at the late September meeting of the International Cocoa Council, the Organization’s governing body. He will serve a five-year term in the post.”
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Arrion, a Belgian national, was an EU civil servant who has served as Ambassador of the European Union in various African countries such as Nigeria, Rwanda and Côte d'Ivoire.
In a statement on the Organization’s website, Mr Arrion says he is looking forward to the opportunity to use his experience and knowledge of the cocoa sector to work with Producers and Consumers to surmount the challenges facing the sector.
The Organisation added that it is pleased to welcome Mr. Arrion and at the same time thanked the outgoing executive director, Dr. Jean Marc Anga, for services rendered.
